5 Ways To Feel INSTANTLY Happier

Winter: Can we just get it over with already?
Sadly, no. Here in DC, we have at least a solid month of cold days, probably more.
We can’t control the seasons and the weather, but we CAN control how we feel about them. So here are five sure-fire quick and easy ways to use your style and your wardrobe as a feel-good part of your life.
1. Explore yellow
I’ve long known that yellow is a really energetic color. But only last week someone pointed out to me that it can counteract depression and negativity. So … wintertime blues, be gone! I’m definitely getting a yellow sweater. (Beware! Not everyone looks fabulous with yellow next to her face; see #2 below.)

2. Embrace your colors
Speaking of color: Although I can’t prove it at all, I believe we have an emotional connection to the colors we wear best. Spend some time in front of a mirror to determine what colors flatter you. (Or consider having your colors analyzed professionally.)

3. Banish the negativity
Women are soooooo hard on ourselves. What if, instead, we resolve to stop saying negative, apologetic, and critical things about our bodies and yourself? Think of all the positiveness that could unleash on the world!

4. Make your closet a guilt-free zone
I believe that unworn clothes in our closet can do us emotional harm. Why’s that? Well, every time we open the closet, we see clothes we paid money for and have never worn. When six months or a year have gone by, the chances go way down that we’ll ever wear them. So please: Get rid of them. If you can’t do that, box them up and put them out of sight.
5. Make it FUN
Do you remember playing dress-up when you were little? It was a game filled with daring and exuberance. See if you can recapture a little of that expressiveness, joy, and experimentation. What could be wrong with that?!
Sound overwhelming? It doesn’t have to be! I’d love to help you find a great yellow pick-me-up or help you get rid of all that clutter in your closet.
