Easy holiday party outfits
You don’t need to panic that Thanksgiving is over, you have holiday parties coming up, and you have no idea what to wear to them.
It’s more than likely you already have something in your closet you can turn into an outfit for almost any occasion. Here are two ideas:
Red
Got red in your closet? I thought so. It doesn’t have to be a particular kind of red, other than being YOUR best red. Red is automatically one of the best holiday colors around. It’s festive even if Christmas isn’t your thing. Let’s say you have a pair of red pants in your closet. You likely also have black sandals or dressy pumps or dressy ballet flats and probably some sort of slinky black top. Am I right? I’m betting it can all come together in a very nice outfit for some of your events during the holiday season.
You’ll just need a festive piece of jewelry to cap it all off, like the statement earrings shown here. And please please please use a small bag (or no bag at all, if it comes to that) rather than a big old work tote. Nothing kills a festive look faster than a work tote.
OR pair it with some awesome, on-trend silver ankle boots, If you’ve got a pair or want to get a pair. You already have a crisp or slinky white top in your closet. Add a piece of statement jewelry, and you’re done.
Velvet
Velvet has been such a big trend lately that you may well have something velvet already in your closet, like a pair of pants, a skirt, or jacket/kimono, or an accessory.
No? Then this is a great time to get one!
You can get the same effect with a slinky piece, pants or a top, for example one in a silk charmeuse. Pair your velvet piece with denim for a casual family get-together, or dress it up for a party or night out. The point is, velvet dresses up and dresses down, and so do many other “fancy” fabrics. Don’t save them for “special occasions” but do make sure to haul them out this time of year especially.
Pleated skirt
You may not have one of these in your closet already, but it’s an option that requires you to get ONE new thing and pair it with what you already have, and that’s a pleated midi skirt.
My favorites are metallic (which also come in shorter versions) and I also love these as well. These are another piece you can dress up or down; wear with a T-shirt and booties for errands or brunch or a business-casual office setting. Wear with a bodysuit or silk T-shirt and heels to go out.
