I had so much fun last week previewing the Etcetera Summer 2011 collection at the showroom in Bethesda, MD, just up the road. Here are some of my favorite pieces. This dress is really wonderful — a not-too-delicate chocolate lace over an ivory lining. Because of the weight of the lace, this piece is dressy but not so dressy you’d only wear it for a wedding. You could wear it out to dinner or even a fancy brunch. Love it.
I love this skirt — love it! It’s a hefty navy nylon. I say “hefty,” because it looks and feels substantial, not fly-away, as I suspect other versions of this type of skirt will be. The best thing about this skirt? I could see someone wearing it with a tank top and flip flops at the beach or as styled here. OR it can also be worn as a strapless dress. I really love that idea — I’d pair it with a denim jacket and a medium-width tan belt to rein in the volume, plus some casual sandals or even some dressier sandals. What a versatile piece, and so on trend.
This dress could be the one dress you wear all summer long, for a family dinner out to a Saturday afternoon walking on the boardwalk to a baby or wedding shower, or just to church or synagogue. It is cute but also fresh and modern, so it could be styled in a low-key, classic way or more boldly, with colorful accents and statement jewelry.
And for those of us who work all summer, the collection has four suits that are lightweight enough for our humid, sweltering weather but polished and put-together for the office.
The entire collection is up online. To schedule your appointment in the Washington, DC, area, please shoot me an email. The show is May 5-11 and my schedule looks like it is filling up fast.
