Here’s Michelle Obama on the last night of the Obamas’ spring break jaunt through Latin America. Not my favorite look, I have to admit. I think the jewelry seems awkward and just not special enough. (That could just be the pictures, I know.) And I am permanently going to rethink shawls, because I think it instantly transformed her silhouette and overall look, making it appear sort of dumpy and old. (It’s worse when she sits down — check out this picture of her sitting.
But this is a small thing — really, I’m just nitpicking. Because through her five-day trip, she consistently looked stylish, interesting and glowing, and what more could we ask for? And I’m not saying anything new
when I say I think the reason she’s so captured the public imagination is that she goes from painting a building with her kids to glam within a few hours. You know she didn’t have much time to pull herself together, and that’s very modern: “I look great — but really, I’m too busy to think about that too much.”
Do you spend a lot of time putting your outfits together? Do you wish you spent more time? Or less?
