Y’all know I’m no fan of Sarah Palin’s. I have to say, though, she looks great in this picture — luminous in fact. The white shirt is another interesting and unexpected choice, much more of a wrap than a basic white blouse. She’s paired it with a simple black pencil skirt (I hope she’s got a few of those, because she sure is working them). Clients of mine know I don’t like black very much, unless it’s worn with black or white.
Close up, the image gets a little tarnished. You’ve got the pin, which is probably not a US flag, because instead she’s got a flag dog tag. That’s some sort of military illusion, I guess. (A decorated version of the real thing, I assume. Anyone know more about this?) Don’t love the cami for this kind of public setting, I don’t think. And, finally, the wounded hand? Is she pressing the flesh a little too aggressively?
The images of Palin in her gleaming white shirt and black skirt weirdly echo the picture that was just before them in the Yahoo! slideshow, this photo of a young man in a white T-shirt with an X-ed out image of Obama on it, the flag in his hand. The red spray paint, frankly, gives me the creeps. (Photos: Palin — AP Photo/Chris O’Meara; boy — AFP/File/Jewel Samad.)
