Every one of us has a unique personality, with our own special history, values, and interests. Well, in just the same way, we ought to show the world our uniqueness by the way we dress.
And since I hope all those things about us change over time, our style needs to change, too.
When I work with individual clients, the first thing we do is to conduct a thorough style analysis. We spend time analyzing the client’s taste, interests, and likes and dislikes. We uncover what she’s passionate about in the world around her, be it flowers or the color red or polka dots or velvet. We talk about her favorite artists, music, books. And we get clues from a wide variety of images.
The point is to create her style profile. This is the all-important key to everything we do together. And here’s why it’s so important. Once we unlock her style, it becomes much, much easier to:
- Shop with purpose, instead of wandering aimlessly (and with a LOT of frustration) through a store
- Get rid of clothes that are no longer serving her, and
- Create new outfits using what she already owns; we just restyle her current wardrobe with her style profile in mind.
How great would that be?! No more frustration and stress in stores. No more last-minute panic over what to wear to an event. No more worrying that she looks boring (when she’s actually a fascinating and dynamic person). No more holding on to clothes that are well past their expiration date.
But here’s the key to it all. We change, and so does our style. Or it should! So make a date with yourself this month and spend a little time decoding your style. Of course I’d love to help if you’d like some support along the way.
